Max Fisher is a writer and director with a sharp eye for life’s details. He makes warm, performance-led films that uncover the humour, beauty and emotion in everyday moments. His work often feels discovered rather than constructed — drawn from behaviour, spontaneity and authentic human connection.
Before moving into commercials, Max spent years directing long-form documentaries, including the original Fighting With My Family documentary that later inspired the Hollywood feature film. That grounding in real stories continues to shape his filmmaking today, combining crafted visual storytelling with an instinct for authenticity and emotional truth.
His films are also informed by his years working as a youth worker, and by a wider curiosity about people from all corners of society. Whether working with actors or real people, Max has a talent for creating performances that feel natural, specific and deeply human.
Alongside his commercial work, Max continues to make short films as a way of developing his narrative voice and dialogue-driven storytelling. His latest short, Rule Britannia, is having a big festival run and continues to build momentum.
He is also a Grand Prix winner.
