A versatile director with a love for conceptual storytelling.
Laura Scrivano is a director, writer and creative who works across film, TV and commercials.
She combines the everyday with the strange and sublime to create work that is both intimate and epic. She has directed commercial spots for The FA / Lionesses’ Euros campaign, Instagram, Casio and Scouts.
Mostly recently she has been directing 2nd Unit on the upcoming Amazon TV series HANNA in Budapest and London; and her debut feature Ring Road has been awarded development funding from the BFI Network.
First-generation Italian-Australian from a small coastal mining town, Laura was raised on a mix of late-80s blockbusters, Australian gothic masterpieces and European avant garde - from Back the Future to Bicycle Thieves, Picnic at Hanging Rock to Twin Peaks, and Labyrinth to La Jetée.
Laura’s work has been described as ‘beautifully honest’ (The Guardian), ‘fabulously brought to life’ (Stephen Fry), and ‘inspirational’ (PromoNews). Her shorts have screened at festivals internationally, including BFI Flare, Sundance, Oberhausen, Cyprus Film Days, Cinema des Antipodes at Festival de Cannes, and New York Fashion Week.
A graduate of the prestigious Australian Film, Television & Radio School (AFTRS), Laura spent two years directing commercials, shorts and content in NYC and LA before settling in London.
