Joe Dixon is a Londoner, hailing from the leafy suburb of East Sheen. It was here that he had his first tentative flirtation with filmaking, at the tender age of 11 appearing as “naughty schoolboy #1” in the Mr Bean Episode, “Back to School Mr Bean” (for all you Bean enthusiasts, it’s the one where he has his car crushed by a tank). NB: Photographic evidence is available on request.
Escaping the burbs as soon as humanly possible, Joe spent his youth finding himself in various tropical locations. And what he found there was a dodgy video camera on which he captured a bunch of supremely wobbly but somewhat charming vignettes. From the sweat drenched beaches of Sri Lanka, Joe’s love of the art of film quickly had him packing his bags and winging his way back home to London to start his career. After cutting his teeth in music video, Joe moved swiftly into commercials beginning with his Shots YDA nominated Diesel ad, ‘Dogs in Sunglasses’. His interactive banger for Expedia landed him a nifty couple of Golds and a Silver Lion at Cannes, subsequent work arranging a Baby Banquet for Sainsbury’s and shooting a world record 80 commercials for Argos added to his virtual awards cabinet, with more Cannes Lions, APA show and British Arrow awards.
Joe is in love the craft of filmmaking. His work never fails to bring a smile, a laugh and occasionally a little tear. His greatest love is to work with great talent both in front and behind the camera. It takes a village to bring an idea to life and for Joe, there’s nothing more exciting in the world than doing just that. And so armed with his intrepid traveller spirit, his Londoner wit and wisdom, plus 12 years of filmmaking experience, Joe’s on the look out for his next great project.
