Bio

Caleb Femi

A widely successful writer and poet, in 2016, Femi was named London’s first Young Poet Laureate. He worked to connect and engage with marginalised, disenfranchised young people through the medium of poetry, encouraging them to voice their experiences through a dedicated platform. Drawing on his own experiences and environments, Femi’s 2020 debut poetry collection, entitled ‘POOR’, combined original verse with photography, delving into the issues that affect young black men predominantly.

In 2021 Caleb was named by Dazed Magazine in the Dazed100 - a list of the next generation of creators shaping youth culture. This year he was invited onto the panel of Saatchi's New Creators Showcase, in Cannes.

He's worked with some of the biggest and most recognised global brands, notably directing Louis Vuitton’s fall/winter 2022 collection film for the last collection designed by their creative director, Virgil Abloh before his passing - the film was one of many collaborations between the pair. Femi has also made films for Mulberry, TikTok, Bottega Veneta, and NCS. In addition, he has directed episodes for the BBC and for the HBO series Industry, written and directed short films for the BBC and Channel 4, and has been commissioned by institutions such as the Tate Modern, the Royal Society for Literature, St Paul's Cathedral and The Guardian.

With two shows of his own creation currently in development, Femi has irrevocably achieved the status of a hybrid creative talent; using his passion for words and poetry to inform his film and photography projects. Constantly evolving as creative with every new piece of work, Caleb is undefined by a particular style or aesthetic, instead, taking inspiration from an idea or brief and letting this inspire him.
